Ethnic Folk Performances Staged in Lijiang

Folk artists and inheritors of intangible cultural heritages from across Lijiang in Yunnan province took to the stage on Sept 25, performing the very best of local ethnic groups' traditional songs, dancing and instruments.

The show staged 17 performances to showcase local ethnic folk arts and promote traditional culture. The representation team from the intangible cultural heritage center of Lijiang Old Town performed with traditional ethnic and modern instruments to provide one of the show's highlights.

Wang Xiaorong, curator of Lijiang Culture Museum, said, "The show displays the city's efforts to protect and inherit local ethnic folk arts and provide a platform for local folk artists to learn from each other."

Since 2011, the Lijiang ethnic folk performance show has been held biennially, becoming a carrier enriching local people's cultural lives.
