Lijiang transforms tourism industry

From the January to July, Lijiang received 14.14 million tourists, an increase of 25.81 percent compared to last year. It also had tourism revenue of 19.39 billion yuan ($3.15 billion), an increase of 27.57 percent compared with the same period last year, Lijiang Daily reported.

Lijiang is located in the center of the Shangri-La tourism circle. It is the meeting point of Yunnan, Tibet and Sichuan province. It has special geographical advantages, customs and historical resources.

Lijiang upholds the tourism industry principles of being market-oriented and utilizing Lijiang’s natural features.

Since the start of 2014, Lijiang has been promoting the tourism brands of Lijiang ancient town and Yulong Snow Mountain. At the same time, Lijiang has strengthened market supervision to ensure tourist satisfaction and the development of the tourism industry in Lijiang.

Tourism market regulation activities have been held in Lijiang several times to regulate the city’s roughly 200 individual tourist branches and 28 travel agencies. Also, Lijiang has taken strong measures against forced shopping and extra charges. (source: china daily)
