Yunnan Cultural Expo Sees 200,000 Visitors from China & Asia

Yunnan Cultural Expo came to a close in Kunming on Aug 11. The five-day event attracted more than 200,000 visitors.

More than 100 foreign enterprises from South Korea, Thailand, Nepal and Pakistan displayed products, along with approximately 1,000 enterprises from all over China.

The expo featured seven pavilions to showcase jewelries, jades, contemporary arts and embroideries. An outdoor exhibition area was also set up to display root carvings and a photo exhibition of Yunnan's cultural industries.

As a new exhibition item, embroideries of traditional art such as hats, shoes and loincloths were available to the visitors. The products were produced by 68 enterprises from Yunnan and independent residents from villages of ethnic minorities.

Hulusi, a music instrument native to ethnic groups in Yunnan, was also presented to visitors. An order to produce 1,000 hulusi was signed on Aug 12. The instruments on display were produced by the Ken Family, who has specialized in this artistry for generations.

A pavilion was set up for cultural tourism outlets to display the interaction between Internet information technology and the management of scenic spots. Yunnan Cultural Investment Company displayed an application system, Tour In Yunnan, through which users can learn about 400 tourist spots in Yunnan on their phones and computers.

To promote the province's brands, 10 activities were held, which included a cloth design competition of ethnic groups, jade carving competition among masters and a hulusi invitational tournament.
