Pu'er to Attend Yunnan Cultural Industry Expo

Representatives from the city of Pu'er will attend the 2015 Yunnan Cultural Industry Expo in Kunming on Aug 7, according to Pu'er Daily.

The city hopes to step up the publicity of its application for entering the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, according to the Pu'er Cultural Industry Office.

The ancient tea grove of Pu'er's Jingmai Mountain is currently being considered in an application to enter the World Cultural Heritage list. The grove is the largest and best protected ancient tea grove in the Lancang River basin and has played a significant role in the academic study of the history of tea, tea growing and tea trade.

The four-day-long cultural expo will run until Aug 11 at the Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center. A series of activities will be held during the cultural exposition, such as a Yunnan ethnic costumes show.

The exposition is jointly organized by the Yunnan Cultural Industry Office, Yunnan Culture Bureau, Yunnan Press and Publishing Bureau and Kunming city government.
